Born on 10th September 1957 in Semanggol, Perak, Yang Berhormat Devamany attended his primary education at Sekolah Kebangsaan King Edward VII, and his secondary education at Sekolah Menengah King Edward, in Taiping, Perak.

As for his passion to become a teacher, he joined Specialist Teachers Training Institute in Cheras and graduated as a teacher in 1978. In 1982 he furthered his studies and obtained his Bachelors Degree in Arts (Hons) Majoring in Malay Literature from University Malaya.
In 1995 YB. Devamany left the Teaching Profession to embark his career in Higher Education, whereby he co-founded RIFA Group of Engineering College, where he was the Managing Director. As a businessmen his passion to teach and to help the people never faded, whilst as a businessmen he had helped many people to solve their problems and motivated them to succeed. Subsequently he left the corporate world to fully concentrate in his quest in helping people and later in 2004 he became a Member of Parliament for Cameron Highlands.

YB. Devamany won his first election for the Parliamentary Seat of Cameron Highlands Constituency in 2004 General Election with a Majority 6,260 votes. He is also an appointed MIC Central Working Committee member and the Chairman for MIC Training and Employment Committee.

YB. Devamany is married with Madam. Saraswathy Nallaiah and blessed with 3 lovely daughters.
